Tamsui, once a simple rural village, had a drastic change in popularity after the Taipei Metro Transit system was established. It brought  prosperity to this little town in northern Taipei, once people began to make good use of the subway and travel to the Tamsui destination. To many residents of Tamsui, the transit line represents more than just a convenient commute connecting Taipei districts, but more of a economical and civil development and historical definition in the gratitudes of their hearts.

MRT Tamsui Line is the first national subway system to be open for public use. It has 3 levels of construction: high platform, ground level, and underground. MRT amsui Line begins with Tamsui and along the railway going southward parallel with the ground; then it rises up to higher platforms once it croses over Jilong River, past Minzu West Road and eventually into the earth towards NTU Hospital Station. The whole journey is approximately 32.3 kilometers long with 27 stationed stops, and takes about 53 minutes to complete a full run.

The opening of MRT Tamsui Line makes it more convenient and efficient traveling between Taipei and Tamsui, especially for the large number of tourists and students of school trips. With the government's plan, each station is located near tourist attractions, so that people living in the city may have more transportation options for their weekends and holidays activities.

There are popular spots along Tamsui Line. Well-known boat cruises, the Ecology Conservatory near Hungshulin Station, hot spring hotels in Xinbeitou, Shihlin Night Market, soccer stadiums and art galleries near Yuanshan Station and Zhongshan Station's nearby shopping area are all easy to reach when taking MRT Tamsui Line.
Whether you would like to have a culinary journey or get yourself into a cultural, historical and natural ecological trip, Tamsui Line can fulfill all your requirements and makes it much easier traveling along famous attractions.
