Located near Longshan Temple, the Bopiliao Old Street is recently one of the most popular attractions in Taipei City. The street has undergone different period of the Qing Dynasty from 1644 to 1911, Japanese colonial period from 1945 to 1949, and after World War II period. It retains the looks from two hundred years ago because it had been set as the location for a new school in 1945. During 1999 to 2009, the Taiwan Government has repaired the buildings, built a Heritage and Culture Center of Taipei City, and invited local/foreign contemporary artists to decorate the street. Today, the Bopiliao Old Street is full of art crafts and creative wall paintings.

The stores displayed here include a barbershop, a book printing company, a Chinese medicine store, a clinic, a clock store, a dental clinic, an inn, a knife shop, a public bathhouse, a school, a Taoist shrine, a tea house, a tearoom, a trading company, a rice company, a beverage stall and other food stalls.

For more understanding of this street, visitors may learn the history at the Heritage and Culture Center of Taipei City. The center is divided into three main buildings, including Story Hall, Education Hall, and Medical Hall. The Story Hall displays the photos of the Bopiliao Old Street, a tricycle, a model of an ancient boat, models of old-fashioned houses, and different wall materials. The Education Hall introduces the ancient Chinese imperial examination system, a list of the famous people at Wanhua District, models of Confucius Temples, the introduction of education system during Japanese Colonial Period, and an old-fashioned classroom. The Medical Hall presents three most famous medical missionaries: Dr. James Laidlaw Maxwell MD, George Leslie Mackay, and David Landsborough, as well as the introduction of the local doctor Achong Lü who received the Ph.D. degree in Japan by studying opium. It also displays the introduction of a variety of Chinese herbs at the Herb Lane and the Chinese herb store. Visitors may open each drawer at the store to see the curative effect of the herb.

The nearby attractions are Lonhshan Temple and Ximending. Visitors may walk along the Guangzhou Street to the Longshan Temple, and take MRT at Longshan Temple MRT Station to Ximending.

Overall, Bopiliao Old Street is an interesting place with historical buildings and stores as well as the creative art works. Visitors may visit the street for sightseeing and learning Taiwanese history.
