Located in Beitou District of Taipei City, Taiwan, Katagalan Culture Center is close to the Beitou Hot Spring Museum and only about 300 meters away from the MRT Xinbeitou Station. Katagalan Culture Center is a 10-story building that houses an aboriginal culture display hall, a multimedia showroom, an aboriginal theme library, research features, conference and performance area, rooms for cultural and historical studies, and a souvenir shop.

Beitou was originally the home of the plains-dwelling indigenous people, the “Katagalan” or “Pingpu” aboriginal tribe. Katagalan Culture Center was established in 2002, providing an ideal place to trace the history, social structure, customs, religions and beliefs of Taiwan’s indigenous people.

Two beautiful wooden statues of man and woman are set at the entrance of the museum to welcome all visitors to immerse in an authentic ambience of the aboriginal culture. A number of exhibitions covering interesting aspects of indigenous aboriginal culture are displayed on the first three floors of Katagalan Culture Center, where visitors may find multimedia shows, traditional artifacts on display for an excellent overview of the existing and historical tribes of Taiwan, numerous pictures to bring the interesting customs and festivals alive, and artifacts used by the different aboriginal tribes. Also, aboriginal dances are performed to bring all visitors into the world of colorful and vibrant traditions of Katagalan aborigines. The rest of the floors are off limits to visitors, and house a fully developed library and administrative offices, among other things.
