Jinhuashi, located in Reuifang Township, right beside the famous Jiufen in New Taipei City, Northern Taiwan. The direct translation of the name is translates to “Gold Melon Rock”, as according to history, the place is famous for its vast gold mine in the late 19th to early 20th century. After the mines dried up and the gold rush ended, the area still remains intact with stunning images of a past era, during year 2002; it was also nominated for the honor of UNESCO World Heritage site.

Situated between the mountains and the coastline, the local scenery is exclusively beautiful, with the abundance of historical relics from the mining days, Jinguashi has become the ideal retreat in Northern Taiwan.

The site now has been turned into a part of the “Gold Ecological Park”, which offers various ways to see the history of the area, influenced by the gold rush period. Also offering a peek into what life was like back in the days. There are other attractions within the area including the Museum of Gold, Shinto Temple, Golden Waterfall and so on.
