2015 Alishan Cherry Blossom

The annual Alishan Cherry Blossom Festival will be started from March 10th to April 10th at Alishan Forest Recreation Area. Due to the climate and species, the time that cherry blossoms come in full bloom vary. The lower the elevation is, the sooner the cherry blossom bloom. Alishan has the perfect landscape and climate such as the tropic, sub-tropic, temperate and frigid zones make great environment to examine botanical etiologies. Alishan features more than 19,000 cherry trees, and about 18,000 of them are Yoshino cherry trees that make Alishan the only and the largest area for Yoshino cherry trees in Taiwan.

Although the Cherry Blossom Festival will be started in 3/10, Formosan cherry blossoms and fuji cherry blossoms are already in full bloom on the Provincial Highway No.18 (Alishan Highway). Besides cherry blossoms, tourists can see azaleas, primrose jasmine, Formosan one leaf orchid, and peonies here. One can enjoy the beautiful natural sceneries, get to learn the colorful indigenous cultures, and appreciate the mesmerizing sceneries such as sea of clouds, sunrise and sunset views. For the tourists who plan to take public transportation can take the train from Taipei Railway Station to Chiayi Railway Station, and then take bus or Alishan Forest Railway to Alishan.
