The Folklore Park in Taichung is the first folk theme park in Taiwan. Established in 1990, the park features its traditional southern Fukien-style architecture and design of Suzhou-style garden. Folklore Park occupies 1.6 hectares and divides into 3 sections. Folk Hall displays the living and decoration; Folk Art Hall offers tea house for Chinese tea drinking; Folk Art Plaza has traditional handcraft show as bamboo weaving, paper umbrella and dough figure-making. On holidays, the park has on-site shows and activities including Chinese instrument performance, dragon and lion dances and so on.
Folklore Park represents living of Chinese in late Qing Dynasty, the furniture and utensils of the ancestors shows the nostalgic atmosphere. You may take your time in the quadrangle, the lotus pond, arch bridge and corridor; these are popular spots for photo shooting. Folklore Park is an attraction with culture and classical beauty, and it is great for leisure and a spot to preserve the customs in modern days.
