Nantou County is situated in the center of Taiwan, surrounded by Taichung, Changhua, Yunlin, Chiayi, Kaohsiung and Hualien County. Nantou is the 2nd largest county in Taiwan and it is the only county in Taiwan that is not geographically close to the sea. Nantou has abundant natural resources as well as animals and plants, earning the name of “Mother Earth of Taiwan”. Nantou has 1 city, 4 towns and 8 townships. With an annual average temperature of 23 degrees Celsius in the plains and 20 degrees Celsius in the mountains, Nantou offers a cool environment during the rainy season (Apr-Sep) as well as dry season (Oct-Mar).
