Located in Taipei city, home to the famous Grand Hotel Taipei, Taipei Expo Park-Yuanshan Park Area is Taiwan’s first park ever established in 1897. It is also the first large-scaled metropolitan park in Taipei City. During the year 1923, Taiwan government designed and constructed a sports stadium with the capacity of 2000 to welcome the arrival of the Japanese emperor’s visit which is now transformed into Zhongshan Soccer Stadium.

The greatest feature are the large plain and historical old trees near The Taipei Zen Buddhism Temple of the Rinzai. Suitable for roller-blading, lots of shades and open space for activities, it is a great park to spend your weekends with your family especially with the convenient transportation by the Taipei MRT.

An ancient tomb was found in Yuanshan Park. It was called the Shell Tombs, estimated age traces back to the stone-age. Ancient disposals, stone artifacts, potteries, bones were found on the spot at the tomb. Later designated as Yuanshan Pre-historic Cultures, a National Historical Monument, the park covers historical legacy throughout the years. Taipei City Government put in efforts to preserve the historical sites and well as organizing the park for modern days. Since Yuanshan significant archaeological digs reveals Taiwan’s prehistoric culture, all horticulture and building carried out in the area were handled with extreme care.

Yuanshan offers convenient transportation, superb views and nearby attractions such as Taipei Martyrs’ Shrine and Xinsheng Park. Yuanshan Park has become one of Taipei’s most popular tourist spots and as well as a Taipei landmark.
