Taipei Expo Park-Yuanshan Park Area is located in the Zhongshan District. It covers around 24 hectares. It is also named Zhongshan Park 1. The greatest feature are the large plain and historical old trees near The Taipei Zen Buddhism Temple of the Rinzai. Suitable for roller-blading, lots of shades and open space for activities, it is a great park to spend your weekends with your family especially with the convenient transportation by the Taipei MRT.
An ancient tomb was found in Yuanshan Park. It was called the Shell Tombs, estimated age traces back to the stone-age. Ancient disposals, stone artifacts, potteries, bones were found on the spot at the tomb. Later designated as Yuanshan Pre-historic Cultures, a National Historical Monument, the park covers historical legacy throughout the years. Taipei City Government put in efforts to preserve the historical sites and well as organizing the park for modern days. Since Yuanshan significant archaeological digs reveals Taiwan’s prehistoric culture, all horticulture and building carried out in the area were handled with extreme care.
Yuanshan offers convenient transportation, superb views and nearby attractions such as Taipei Martyrs’ Shrine and Xinsheng Park. Yuanshan Park has become one of Taipei’s most popular tourist spots and as well as a Taipei landmark. During the 2010 Taipei Flora Expo, Yuanshan Park was appointed into 5 expo areas, including the Expo Dome, Pavilion of New Fashion, Celebrity House, Pavilion of Culture and Expo Theater.
