Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is one of Taiwan's ten major construction projects, and it was decided in 1969 to prepare for construction. In 1964, the Civil Aviation Administration first proposed to change its name to "Jieshi Airport", but the Executive Yuan did not agree. On February 15, 1968, the Executive Yuan met 11 days before the opening of the airport, but suddenly it was renamed "Chiang Kai-shek International Airport" (Chiang Kai-shek International Airport) through the proposal of the Ministry of Transportation. On September 6, 2006, the Executive Yuan passed the proposal of the Ministry of Communications to formally rename the Zhongzheng International Airport to "Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport", but the international abbreviation still maintains TPE. The name will go into history.
