Located at the center of Shanhou Village, Kinmen Folk Culture Village was built in 1900 during the Qing Dynasty over a 3,700 sq meters land. It was built by the Wang family of Japanese decedents over a period of more than 20 years. There are altogether 18 Fujian-style buildings consisting of front yards, residential area, school and shrines. The geographic location of the cultural village was set between the mountain at the back and the sea in front. The architectural layout was antique and the elements used for building the village were the most superior at that era.

Through years of worn out and exposure to the strong sea wind, many of the eighteen buildings have badly deteriorated. In 1979, the Kinmen government refurnished the village and transform here into a tourist attraction. Now, you will find museum and exhibition rooms, which have been presenting the best part of Kinmen history and culture.
