The park spans across the Gushan, Zuoying, Qijin and Nanzi District of Kaohsiung City, with the largest range within the Gushan District. Shoushan national Nature Park has designated 1 special landscape area, 6 historical areas, 3 general restricted areas, and 1 recreational area. Special landscape area is an area with unique natural landscapes, including special landscapes of the stalactite caverns of the Northern Shoushan limestone terrain, Mifeng Hill, Thailand Valley, Xiaopingding and a special landscape area of snake rocks. Historical significant area contains important historical buildings, historical sites, ruins and other cultural remnants; areas with anthropological and historical research values, cultural heritages and historical battlegrounds. A recreation area is designed suitable for outdoor recreational and education activities for the visitors. It is to promote environmental conservation and ecological knowledge to the people while providing recreational space for them.
