Fort Anping was built by the Dutch in 1624, the oldest castle in Taiwan. This class-one historical site is now organized into Exhibition Hall, Observatory Platform, and Wall Heritage Park. The first western style cannon in Taiwan was equipped in this castle, the Armstrong Cannon, it was the state of the art weapon back in time. The artillery fort is a cube structure built with red bricks was later used to fight the intrusion of Japanese, definitely worth visiting for its historic meaning.
The class-three historical site in the park is the Anping Cultural Hall. It was a barrack built in the Qing Dynasty. Exhibition of the famous people in the past, folk art and historical artifacts are held for educational tours. Visiting Anping Culture Hall would be a great opportunity to experience the collision of the culture in Taiwan throughout the history.
