Located between Mt. Taiping and Tayuan, the 1,900 meter-high Cueifong Lake is the biggest alpine lake in Taiwan. Its surface spreads across 20 hectares land and its water is clear and unpolluted. It is under forest reserved area. In addition to its unspoiled scenic beauty, this area also preserved some of the rarest bird species on the island. From Mt. Taiping to Cueifong Lake is about 18 km; a Class B Forest Entry Permit is required. Visitors may apply for the pass at the Taipingshan Check Point. Vehicles have to strictly comply with the entry time and exercise caution while driving on the 5 km pebble road at the later portion of the journey.
