Macao Hot Spring or spelled Matsao Hot Spring is a hot spring spot inside the Yangmingshan National Park in Beitou District, Taipei. The Macao Valley is an area rich with sulfur springs in Yangmingshan, where smokes of hot springs can be seen starting from the Macao Bridge. The spring is not potable, around Ph 2 to 4, and it can go up to highest 99 degree Celsius, though usually around 60 to 90 degrees. Heavy sulfur smell near and especially in the hot springs but the spring is warm and sotthing, known to be relaxing mentally and physically. It’s a city getaway for the locals and hot tourist attraction for the travelers especially during the winter.

The Huayi Village, SunMoon Farm and Song Garden, are the available hot spring location. With natural surrounding and modern facilities, hot springs in Macao is just a treat in the cold winter. The local delicious dish and tea after the warming hot spring bath, it’s just what a person need to loosen the burden from everyday life.

Macao is located within Yangmingshan National Park. The hot spring is divided into two sections, the fore hill and the back hill of Yanmingshan. It is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery and a great place for a hot spring. The fore hill hot springs starts from the Zhongshan Tower, flowing clear slightly white spring endlessly throughout the years with a average temperature of 70 degree Celsius. The back hill hot spring is located near the Yangming Studio. It’s within the restricted area, mostly for private residence use.

Yangmingshan is a major attraction and the closest National Park to the Taipei City. Besides the scenery, the local cuisine is something never to be miss out on. Handmade steamed bun, cafes, and traditional Chinese restaurants all offers satisfying local dishes. Hostels and B&B offers convenience for the weekend travel in the mountains. With attractions like Zhuzhi Lake, Lengshuikeng, Niunai Lake and more, experiencing Yangmingshan is a must visit in Taiwan travel.
