Surrounded by Hsinchu, Miaoli, and Taichung County, Shei-pa is the fifth national park in Taiwan. It includes magnificent sceneries, rivers, valleys, waterfalls, and fifity-one high mountains with steep slopes such as Snow Mountain and Dabajian Mountain. Due to climate and temperature differences, visitors may see a diverse views during same season.

Besides splendid landscape, the park also features abundant natural resources. There are 1103 kinds of vascular plants as well as 61 kinds of rare plants such as Taiwan sassafras, Devol’s Balsamine, Syueshan Aster, Syueshan Potentilla and many more. There are also 6 kinds of amphibious animals, 97 kinds of birds, 89 kinds of butterflies, 16 kinds of fresh water fish, 32 kinds of mammals, and 14 kinds of reptiles in the park. Visitors may see the Formosan Black Bears, Formosan Landlocked Salmons, Formosan Reeve’s Muntjac, Formosan Rock-Monkeys, Formosan Salamanders, Mikado Pheasants, Swinhoe’s Pheasants and many rare animals here. The best season to go bird watching at Sheipa is from April to June, during which Crested Serpent Eagles, Formosan Yuhinas, Steere's Babblers, Plumbeous Water Redstarts, Vinaceous Rosefinchs, Little Forktails, Eurasian Nuthatchs and many other colorful birds may be found in the park.

With a total area of 76,850 hectares, Shei-pa National Park covers four recreation areas including the Guanwu Recreation Area in Hsinchu County, Wenshui Recreation Area in Miaoli County, Wuling Recreation Area in Taichung County, and Xuejian Recreation Area in Maoli County. Visitors may get more information at the nearby visitor centers.

No. 1 National Highway (國道一號) -> exit from Miaoli Interchange (苗栗交流道) -> No. 6 Taiwan Provincial Highway (台6線)-> No. 62 Miaoli County Road (苗62線) -> Taian Hot Spring (泰安溫泉) -> make a left turn about 100m away after reaching Taian Hot Spring (泰安溫泉) -> Shei-pa National Park Headquater(雪霸國家公園管理處)

By Train -> Bus:
Take train to Miaoli Train Station (苗栗火車站) -> Hsinchu Bus (新竹客運) bound for Dahu (大湖) or Zuolan (卓蘭) to Fayun Temple (法雲禪寺) -> Shei-pa National Park Wenxui Headquarter (雪霸國家公園汶水管理處)
