Forest of Forgetting Sorrow, the name was given by the local hikers. The name Wanyo meaning forgetting sorrow in Chinese explained a little how this dead forest may look. This work of god is a quiet clear swampland with cedars planted randomly in the swamps, beautiful scenery described only in fairytales. The dead cedars ironically correspond with the living creatures in the swamp. High up in the mountains, it seems vivid and alive in good weather, however, shady and mysterious when it’s foggy. This magnificent view will not just take away your sorrows but take your breath away definitely. To visit the forest, it will take you around 30 minutes to hike up there on a very steep hill. The locals provide mini-bus rides around NT$ 100 per person that will save you the walk Parking space and fee are included. Wearing hiking shoes or boots is encouraged because getting through the swampland on foot is still necessary.
