Nanjing Road is the most prosperous business street in Shanghai and it is regarded as "The first business street in China." At the length of 5.5 kilometers, Nanjing Road is separated into two sections: east and west by XiCang middle road. Built in 1851, Nanjing Road was a main road from The Bund to Honan road, playing an important role in the development of the city. After the rising of 5 grand department stores in this area, Nanjing Road has become a great commercial district in China.
