Jade Buddha Temple is a Buddhist temple in Shanghai, China. It's also called Yufo Temple. Jade Buddha Temple was founded with two jade Buddha statues imported to Shanghai from Burma by sea in 1882. The two jade Buddha; one is a sitting Buddha and the other one is a smaller reclined Buddha representing Buddha's death. There is also a larger reclined Buddha made of marble donated from Singapore in the temple. The interesting thing is visitors may mistake this larger sculpture is the original one. Jade Buddha Temple is one of the most famous Chinese Buddhist temples, the present temple draws from both the Chan and Pure Land traditions of Mahayana Buddhism. In the Grand Hall of Jade Buddha Temple, you will find some statues; these statues are Three Golden Buddhas, Gods of the Twenty Heavens. In the back of Three Golden Buddhas, there are a Guanyin, Shen Cai and his 53 teachers carved on the wall. You can take a look in the Jade Buddha Chamber; the chamber is in the northern section of the temple. Some other Buddhist sculptures are also viewable in the antechamber. During walking outside along Grand Hall, do not miss 18 unique Arhats carved on the wall. While you are hungry, you can go to the public restaurant to have a double mushroom noodles; it's the most popular dishes in the temple. The public restaurant is located on 2nd floor at the eastern edge of the temple.
