Located in Songshan District of Taipei City, Taiwan, the Taipei SongShan Airport or the Taipei International Airport was first opened in April, 1950, occupying a total area of 182 hectares. With a location in the city center, travelers may simply approach the airport either via Taipei MRT – Wenhu Line, bus, or taxi.

The Taipei International Airport is one of the 4 international airports in Taiwan along with the Kaohsiung International Airport (KIA), the Taichung Airport, and the Taoyuan International Airport (Taoyuan Chiang Kai-Shek International Airport). It has an annual capacity of 1,350, 000 international passengers and 5,500,000 domestic passengers. The east-west runway can accommodate B-747 and smaller aircrafts, while the 8 boarding bridges are available for boarding and deplaning, and several auxiliary features such as navigation guide and approach lights are for night landing and to facilitate low visibility.

The Taipei International Airport was first launched as a civil and military airport until the opening of the Taoyuan International Airport in 1979. It turned into a domestic airport until 2008, when direct air routes to China began. Today, the Taipei International Airport serves as both a domestic and international airport to many international destinations, including Big Bird Tokyo International Airport of Japan, Shanghai Honqiao International Airport of China, and Seoul Gimpo International Airport of Korea.
