Situated at the foot of Purple Mountain in Nanjing, the Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-sen has been a must-see tourist attraction, blending the classical imperial tomb style and modern architecture. In memory of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s great leading of overthrowing the corrupt Qing Dynasty, Dr.Sun Yat-sen ha become the hero of democracy and autonomy.

The majestic symmetry of the construction is the first impression for guests to visit the mausoleum. The Mausoleum ushers guests to the troii, the corridor, the gateway, the monument, the memorial hall and finally the tomb. The stretched-out stairway of 392 steps directly leads to the gate of the tomb wherein lies a statue of Dr. Sun Yat-sen on a marble coffin. The four Chinese characters written by Dr. Sun, “Tian Xia Wei Gong” are inscribed on the tri-arched marble gate. As walking into the gate, there is a pavilion which is a memorial monument originally set by the Kuomintang. The sacrificial hall and the vault are reachable with a few stairs up.
