Chaotian Palace(Chaotian Gong)

Chaotian Gong is a heavenly ancient palace, also called Nanjing Chaotian Palace, on east of Mochou Road towards the water west gate and situated on the city mountain. This palace is a 10 minute walk from Zhangfuyuan Subway Station and it occupies an area approximately 70,000 square meters. It's the most complete preservation of Qing Dynasty temple. Since Nanjing capital was found by Ming Dynasty, Chaotian Gong became the place to hold magnificent ceremonies. Royalties used to practice the royal etiquette and junior bureaucrats used to study the knowledge of dynasty's social studies and military at this palace. After entering from the west gate of Chaotian Gong, you will see the inscription on the gate "Jin Gu Gui Dao"; it's the noble path of the past and present. Some of vendors will sell traditional Chinese food and souvenirs in front of the gate. Keep walking for a few minutes, you will find a large circular dragon bas-relief on the center of the wall alongside Jixing Gate. There are two huge turtle steles standing aside the stairs while you get to the hall of Chaotian Gong. The spectacular of the palace usually makes tourists have the powerful feeling as the ancient emperor.
