Chinese New Year
The Chinese New Year or Lunar New Year is the most significant festival for ethnic Chinese. It normally comes about a month later than the Western New Year. Although it’s not a public holiday in Thailand, members of the Chinese communities would gather at Yaowarat – Bangkok China Town for exhilarating celebrations such as Chinese dragon and lion dances, dragon parade, exploding firecrackers, new year shopping and many other events making the entire street comes to life. Apart from Yaowarat area, restaurants and shopping malls roll out special Chinese New Year promotions creating splendid fiesta shopping and dining environments.
