Chatuchak (Jatujak) Weekend Market
Located in Bangkok near Mo Chit Bus Station, Chatuchak (Jatujak) Weekend Market is the largest market in Thailand, and also one of the world’s largest markets with a total area of 27 acres in 27 sections, comprised of more than 15,000 booths selling goods and clothing from every part of Thailand.

This world famous market was established by the idea of having a flea market in every town of Thailand from the former prime minister of Thailand- Plaek Phibulsongkram. The first flea market of Bangkok was set in Sanam Luang area, but was relocated to Sanam Chai due to city plan for other functions. The location of Sanam Chai wasn’t set for too long as there weren’t enough space, the market moved back to Sanam Luang area again in 1982. Later in the same year, Sanam Luang was appointed as the venue for the celebrations of the 200-year-anniversary of Bangkok, the market was relocated again. It was relocated to Phahonyothin area, which is the current location of Chatuchak Weekend Market. Sanam Luang Market was later renamed Chatuchak Weekend Market for its location.

Chatuchak Weekend Market has always been a very popular and must-visit stop for both locals and international travelers on weekends. Here at Chatuchak, almost everything can be found at a bargaining local price, and most of the goods are manufactured from local factories. Antique wood carving, clay handicrafts, Buddhist amulets, wooden furniture, ceramic wares, stones, fashionable clothing, as well as pets can all be found in Chatuchak Market.
