The annual Taipei Lantern Festival has begun. From February 20th to 29th, Taipei Lantern Festival promised to deliver a treat for your eye. The event has organized up to 12 lantern display areas and the event features the main lantern of the year, The Monkey of Fortune and Prosperity. The main them monkey lantern display offers light show every 30 minutes.

The idea of the main lantern display this year, the Monkey of Fortune and Prosperity, comes from a gourd which sounds similar to fortune and prosperity in Chinese. It is also the first main lantern built in a very natural curve-like shape. Over 14 meters, the main lantern display will present light show every 30 minutes. The Taipei City is also giving out the little monkey paper lantern to celebrate to holidays with the guests.

The Lantern Festival this year offers a bit more. Collaborating with the 12 districts o Taipei and built the one and only lantern display area. Each district will design its own lantern displays such as the “Star Light Tunnel” by Songshan District. The rest will gradually set up their displays and celebrate the end of the Chinese New Year Festival.
