Jiufen (Chiufen) Old Street
Jiufen Old Street, also spelled Chiufen, is a place strong in cultural characteristics located in New Taipei City. Jiufen village is located within hills, next to the mountains, and facing the ocean, and used to be the center of gold mining. Because of its unique location, Jiufen village is well known for its foggy weather condition that creates a romantic atmosphere.
The old street is full of local snack vendors and special traditional handicrafts shops. Various foods such as “Yu Yuan” (taro balls), fried meat balls, steamed taro cakes, and herbal rice cakes, are all Jiufen’s specialties.
