Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Hall, established in 2011, is dedicated in promoting Buddhism. When the founder Master Hsing Yun went on cultural exchange journeys to Tibet, he received Buddhist relic as a token of gratitude in return. The Buddhist relic is enshrined along with the memorial hall, towers and parks. It’s the largest religious sacred ground for Buddhism in Taiwan.

Over 100 hectares, facing west, Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Hall went through 9 years of construction. The main hall in the center, 8 towers in the front, a giant Buddha statue on the back, leaning south towards the spiritual mountain, and a park stationed on the north side. The main hall is a 7 story building with shrines worshipping the Chinese gods and 48 underground exhibition rooms displaying artifacts which gradually open one room at a time every hundred year. A huge plaza which holds up to 30 thousand people is decorated with the 18 Arhat statues. The park on the north is designed to hold small events and for family use activities. Fo Guang Shan is rich in religion background, rare unique artifacts is in displayed everywhere makes the spiritual visit both educational and interesting.

During huge events like the Lantern Festival, Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Hall is the best place to experience the holiday spirits. It is a spiritual and educational visit to experience the traditional Taiwan.
