Taroko Gorge
Taroko Gorge is no doubt the most famous spot in Eastern Taiwan, grand canyons and spectacular mountains create the most mesmerizing landscape on the island. Located in Hualien County, Taroko National Park is aiming to protect the natural scenery, historical relics, and wildlife. You may find half of the species of Taiwan mammals here, also the vegetations such as broadleaved forests, mixed broadleaved, and coniferous forests. In addition, ninety percent of the resident species of birds and over half of the butterfly species in Taiwan can be found in the park.
Chiufen (Jiufen)
Located in New Taipei City, Chiufen village used to be the center of gold mining. This small village is located within hills, next to the mountains, and facing the ocean. Due to its special location, Chiufen village is well known for its foggy weather condition which creates a romantic atmosphere. Chiufen features an old street that is full of local snack vendors and special accessory stores. Chinese teahouses in this area are also very popular for both local and foreign tourists. Drinking tea during night time while appreciating fascinating sceneries is definitely a must do when visiting Chiufen.
