The 47th Golden Horse Awards ceremony will be held in Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taoyuan County Government’s Arts Hall this year on the 20th November. This year, the festival will continue its four main objectives including the Golden Horse Awards, Golden Horse Film Festival, Golden Horse Film Academy and the Golden Horse Film & TV Film Project Promotion which starts from the 3rd to 20th November. This will be a comprehensive film festival which not only focuses on the screenings and stars, but also the fundamental film education in schools and academies. Since the first Golden Horse Awards in 1962, it has honored many outstanding Chinese language films and excellent filmmakers. The award itself represents the highest level of accomplishment and recognition in the Chinese film industry and also offers great contributions to the industry’s development is many ways.
There will be twenty four awards to be announced in the ceremony ranging from Best Feature film, Best Actor/Actress/Director, to Best Sound Effects. There will also be two special awards such as the Best Taiwanese Film of the Year and Best Taiwanese Filmmaker of the Year.
Taoyuan County, will host a number of public screenings of independent and documentary films within the festival period, such as 2010 most popular movie screening on 6th, the most popular movie at all-time screening on the 13th which’s to be held outdoors in front of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Taoyuan County Government’s Arts Hall. On the 6th and 7th of November, movie theatres around Taoyuan and Taipei area will also be showing documentary and feature films followed by a post-screening conference. The three movie theatres in Taipei are Shin Kong Cineplex at Ximending, Ambassador Theatres at Breeze Center and Ambassador Theatres at Spring Center. The Golden Horse is certainly Taiwan’s biggest international festival with more than 200 films from all across the world participating in this cross cultural, film artistic opportunity.
