(Taipei) Temple Tour - Xingtian Temple

Xingtian Temple, as well knows as Enzhugong (savior) Temple, is located at the intersection of Minquan E. Road and Songjiang Road. It is dedicated to Guan Gong, who is the Chinese God of War. Since Guan Gong is also famous for managing finances during his lifetime, he has been deemed as the protector of commerce. This temple is the most popular temple among Northern Taiwan, and it is very popular among businessmen. The number of visitors per day may exceed twenty thousand.
The temple was built in 1967, in a simple but stately style. After enter the temple, visitors may see many religious believers worshipping Guan Gong on bended knees. The appropriate way to worship at Xingtian Temple is to take two incenses. Worship the God of Heaven first, and then worship Guan Gong. Visitors may also choose to worship gods with folded hands near chest. Some visitors will go to the fortune tellers' stalls at the Underground Street nearby for getting specific answers or instructions. It is quiet popular for Asian visitors, especially for the Japanese.
Visitors may visit the Raohe Street Night Market afterward. Near the Songshan Staion, Raohe Street Night Market has a total length of six hundred meter with over four hundred stands and stores. The mouthwatering snacks here include Stewed Ribs with herbs, Oyster vermicelli, Beef Noodle, Fried Squid Balls, Mochi Ice Cream, Okonomiyaki, Hot Waffle, Hot Coconut Milk and many more. It is worth to come repeatedly for trying different delicious snacks. Besides foods and snacks, the night market also has hundreds of stores selling fashionable cloth, accessories, daily goods and other commodities.
