It is the strawberry harvest season! Strawberries in Taiwan are mainly grown in Dahu Township of Miaoli, earning this area the name of Strawberry Kingdom. And since the large quantity produced, quality is carefully assessed by the farmers. The peak season of strawberry is December to April, making now the perfect timing for strawberry picking. Being many people's favorite fruit and has become an important fruit in the end of winter in Taiwan, strawberry picking is a must do for most locals and definitely a fun activity for you to try when traveling to Taiwan.

Generally, strawberries that are more proportional and darker in color have a better flavor. Larger strawberries are not necessarily better, and avoid the strawberries that are too white in color as they have not ripened. Strawberries harvested in December and January has the longest preservation. In February, you can find strawberries larger than the usual size. As for picking the sweetest ones, March is the perfect time. When it’s almost the end of the strawberry harvest season, April, you can pick strawberries with the lowest price. Tourist strawberry farms are open everywhere in Dahu during the harvest season, from main roads to corner of the street. But Dahu has more than fresh fruits to offer. Dahu Strawberry Cultural Center, also known as the Dahu Winery, featuring a wide variety of strawberry made products from hot food such as strawberry sausage, BBQ with strawberry sauce, strawberry ice cream, snacks, and juice to cosmetics, soap and shampoo. You can enjoy picking your own strawberries while trying all kinds of strawberry cuisine, sweet treats and use all the strawberry products from head to toe.
