Taoyuan County is a peaceful city in northwestern Taiwan, boasts characteristic and charming tourism resources, such as Mt. Lala, Xiao Wulai Scenic Area, Jiaobanshan Villa, Cihu & Cihu Mausoleum, Back Cihu, Shihmen Reservoir, and Daxi Old Street. With a strategic location, Taoyuan is the city where the Taoyuan International Airport is settled and is about 50 minutes ride from Taipei City, make it one of popular stops among international travelers before heading to other Taiwan or international destinations.

Plan a wonderful trip to Taoyuan to discover the story of Taoyuan. You are suggested with the following schedule for your two-day Taoyuan tour. Taiwan Tourist Shuttle has launched an additiona Xiao Wulai Route this summer for you to have a hassle free travel in Taoyuan. Day1:
Morning: Mt. Lala (Mt. Lala Sacred Tree Zone) -> Afternoon: Jiaobanshan Park (Jiaoban Mountain Camphor Storage House) -> Evening: Taoyuan Tourist Night Market -> Zhongli hotel or Taoyuan hotel

Morning:
Mt. Lala is also called Daguan Mountain, which is known of its beautiful and unspoiled nature sceneries. Daguan means beautiful in the language of Atayal. You may admire a wide variety of cultivars and native plants, as well as 22 giant red cypass trees that range from 500 years to 3,000 years. There are professional guides from forestry Bureau who may introduce the knowledge and histories of this unparalleled forest (the reservation for a guide in advance is required).
For the nature lover, there is a 27 kilometer Fu-Ba Historic Trail from Fushan to Upper Baling which is connecting two villages and was seen as marriage trail by the Taiwan’s aboriginal- Atayal.
In addition, Mt. Lala is also famous for peaches. It produces the largest amount and highest quality of peaches in the month of June. During this time, visitors are welcomed to enjoy the most delicious and tasty peaches, and you may as well experience the fun of peach-picking during the harvest season.

How to go to Mt. Lala:
From Rear Station of Taoyuan Train Station or Zhongli Train Station, take the Taoyuan Bus No. 5090, 5091 and 5301(bound for Linbankou or Upper Baling) to Baling stop (About a 3 hour bus ride). You may take local taxi from the bus stop to the entrance of sacred tree zone.

Afternoon:
There are two Chiang Kai-Shek residences in Jiaobanshan Park; the old one is rebuilt into a youth hostel features a picturesque mountain view in selected rooms, and the other one has maintained the same and documents the life of the former President of Taiwan, Chiang Kai-Shek and his family during his stay at Jiaobanshan. The beautiful and calm environment is one of the reasons that Chiang Kai-shek chose this place to built residences. While you wander in the villa, you may see the dozens of sculptures that are displayed throughout the park in increasing the artistic atmosphere of the villa.
In Jiaobanshan Park, there is a hundred year relic, Jiaoban Mountain Camphor Storage House, was built during the period of Japanese occupation. Champhor is an extremely important material at that time and Taiwan produced more than half of the world’s total output of camphor. This is the last and only camphor storage house that is remained in Taiwan and you may learn the knowledge and history of camphor in the museum set next to the storage.

How to go to Jiaobanshan Park:
Take the Taoyuan Bus No. 5104, 5105, 5106, 5109, 5090, 5091 and 5301 to Fuxing stop.

Evening:
Set in downtown Taoyuan City center, Taoyuan Tourist Night Market is just about a 15-20 minute walk from the Taoyuan Railway Station. The great location in the city center makes Taoyuan Night Market a lively stop in the evening for more than 250 stores and stalls ranging from fashionable clothing to local delights. Visitors may find food stalls mainly on Beipu Rd., while Zhengkang Rd. and Zhongzhen Rd. are occupied with shops and stores for clothing, accessories, books, shoes and others.

How to go to Taoyuan Tourist Night Market:
1. Take the Taoyuan Bus No. 5090 and 5301 from Fuxing stop directly to Taoyuan Train Station, and then take a 15-20 minute walk to the night market.
2. Take the Taoyuan Bus No. 117, 151, 152, and complimentary city shuttle to the night market.

Day2:
Morning: Cihu & Cihu Mausoleum (Back Cihu) -> Afternoon: -> Daxi Old Street -> Taoyuan HSR Station

Morning:
Cihu was formerly known as Green Water Lake until 1962. During the former president of Taiwan, Chiang Kai-Shek, traveled to Cihu area, he was fascinated by the beauties and atmosphere of Back Cihu as it reminded him of his benevolent mother and hometown in Fenghua County, Zhejiang Province in China and renamed it as Cihu. Visitors may spend maybe 2 – 3 hours walking around Cihu for marks of Chiang’s Family and Chiang Kai-Shek Mausoleum (also known as Cihu Mausoleum) which was established to commemorate Chiang Kai-Shek and his family.

Note: If you are interested in visiting the beautiful Back Cihu, you are suggested to apply for a visitor pass early for your visit. There is a limitation of 600 visitors per day. The permit for entering Back Cihu can be applied at http://backcihu.tycg.gov.tw/Cihu/. Currently only available in Chinese

Note2: As for Japanese, Singaporean, Malaysian, Hongkongese and Macanese travelers, no permit will be required. However, a valid ID to be shown at the ticket booth may be necessary. 

How to go to Cihu:
1. Take the Taoyuan Bus No. 5090, 5104, 5105, 5106, 5109, and 5301 to Cihu stop or Dongkou stop.
2. Take Taiwan Tourist Shuttle Bus from Zhongli Train Station directly to Cihu.

Afternoon:
Daxi Old Street is filled with diverse stores with the façade designed in a Baroque style that is a perfect blend of the East and West. In the past, the architect would cover and hide their work before completing as they were afraid that their original design would be plagiarized by others.
