Wong Tai Sin Temple is the biggest Taoist temple in Hong Kong. The full area is about 18,000m2. As the most famous and popular temple, it is dedicated to the immortal Wong Tai Sin. The temple which is famed for the spiritual of Wong and “the fortune tellers” embedded in the southern side of Lion Rock in the north of Kowloon.

As known, once upon a time a man named Leung Renyan told the story of Wong Tai Sin from Qiaoshan Guangxi, China to Wan Chai, Hong Kong. On the central altar stood a painting of a man, which was Wong Tai Sin himself originally brought to Hong Kong from Guangdong in 1915. In 1921, a prestigious person suggested of a better location, though they moved the temple to Rosy Garden, until now.

The Temple is graded as a Grade II historic building because of its historic significance.

Wong Tai Sin Temple is open daily from 7a.m. to 6p.m. The garden is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9a.m. to 4p.m. Charge to both is free, but donations are highly appreciated.
