The China Millennium Monument in Beijing was constructed to welcome the new millennium, the year 2000. It is located between the Military Museum and the Central Television Complex. North of The China Millennium Monument is the Yuyuantan Park and to its south is the West Beijing Railway Terminus. The China Millennium Monument is a grand structure. Fusing the spirit of traditional culture and the art of modern design, it covers an area of 4.5 hectares. On the southern entrance to the Monument, there is the Plaza of Holy Fire. Its area is 960 square meters, representing China's vast territory of 9,600,000 square kilometers. Walking along the plaza, tourists will see a 270-meter long bronze tunnel that has inscriptions on its walls with chronogram that dates from when humans first appear to 2000 A.D.Inside The China Millennium Monument is an art museum, which includes a grand century hall, a museum of eastern and western art, modern art museum, and multi-media art museum. In the grand century hall is an encircling mural painting with a circumference of 117 meters. It is one of the best in China.
