After the great success of Taiwan’s first hot air balloon festival held on 2011/07/01-2011/08/31 at Luye Gaotai of Luye Town in Taitung County, Taiwan, the 2012 Taiwan Hot Air Balloon Festival is once again to take place at Luye Gaotai from June 29 to September 2, 2012.

This year, the 2012 Taiwan Hot Air Balloon Festival is planned more fanfare, not only pilots from Canada, Dubai, India, New Zealand, Switzerland, Thailand, and the United States are invited to come, but a series of exciting events are planned to create a fun and memorable time for all visitors, including interactive activities. The 2011 Taiwan Hot Air Balloon Festival has attracted more than 350,000 local and international visitors, making it one of the most popular summer events in Taiwan.

This year at the 2012 Hualien Carp Lake Butterfly & Firefly Festival, from April 13 to May 13 2012, a number of guided tours and DIY events are scheduled for you to get close to the nature.

Butterfly Tours
Date: 2012/04/13-2012/05/13 (10:00, 11:00, 13:00 & 14:00 of Saturdays and Sundays during the festival period)
Location: Hualien Habitat Conservation Park (No. 8 Sec. 4 Chinan Road, Shoufeng Town, Hualien County, Taiwan)
Tour limitation: 60 people per shift.

DIY Event- Making Tree Bark Fireflies
Location: Chinan Community Development Association Centre (No. 17 Sec. 2 Chinan Road, Shoufeng Town, Hualien County, Taiwan)
Date: 2012/04/13-2012/05/13 (15:30-17:00 of every Saturdays during the festival)
Tour limitation: 50 people/time.

Firefly Tour
Location: Guanyin Temple at the southof Hualien Carp Lake
