Gueishan Island (Turtle Island) is located on the Pacific Ocean, north-east of Jiaosi Town. It is named because the shape of the island resembles a sea turtle from far. Although Gueishan Island is only 2.9 km wide, it is a major juncture on Taiwan’s north-east sea front. It has been known for its magnificent sunrise scene for Lanyang area since the Qing Dynasty. The most magnificent view is from Toucheng Beach or Lanyang River mouth during April till September.
