Daylily is a member of Hemerocallidaceae family which is also called “Tiger Lily,” “Golden-Needled Flower” or “Forget-worry Flower.” It is also regard to as “beauty for a day” because it has a very short period of blooming, a day only. The golden-needled stems of Daylilies are edible and the flavor is described as musky-sweet and a little earthy.

These orange little flowers are not just pretty on the outside but also sweet on the inside. Local restaurants and food stands serves snacks and dishes made with daylily. Pan-fried, deep fried, soup and salad, daylily cuisines are season specials only during this period of time.

Hualien, located east of Taiwan, preserves more natural scenery in comparing with western Taiwan. The Taroko Gorge, Swallow Grotto, and Tunnels of Nine Turns are amazing attractions which you must pay visits. To embrace Mother Nature, Hualien is definitely top shelf location, especially during the blooming season of daylily. It is the best time to get away from the city and attend outdoor activities such as hiking, rafting, even whale-watching. Book your Hualien hotels and enjoy the easy pace of eastern Taiwan.
