A wetland is a land area that is permanently or seasonally saturated with water, which forms a distinct ecosystem. The characteristic vegetation and habitat adapts to the unique soil condition is what distinguishes wetlands from other land forms or water which may form beautiful and rare scenery.

New Taipei City - Bajen Village
Bajen village is located in the National Park. Up on the Yangmingshan National Park, the average temperature is 3 Celsius lower than Taipei City. Wet throughout four seasons, Bajen Village is constantly occupied by fog hence the name Bajen, meaning eight smoke in Chinese. The clean water and habitat enriched the local farms which formed bench terrace scenery. It is a beautiful and special asset of Bajen Village.

Hsinchu County - Marine Marsh
Situated near Xingfeng shore, a sand dune landform caused streams and rivers on the land detour before reaching the ocean. The detoured water sediment creating marsh land by the shore, exclusive wetland plants and animals inhabits along the wet marsh.

One of the most well known and well preserved wetland habitats in Taiwan, it is a special mix of mud and sand which bred diverse organism of animal and plants including birds, fish, crabs, and invertebrates. The Gaomei Wetlands is an excellent location for bird-watching. Migratory birds can be seen throughout various seasons.

Changhua County - Coast Wetland
Located in Changhua, north shore of the Jhuo Shuei River, Coast Wetland still preserved as its primitive state. The largest sand mud intertidal zone in Taiwan, Coast Wetland attracts flocks of migrate birds during the winter.

Nantou County - Forest of Forgetting Sorrow (Wanyo Forest)
Forest of Forgetting Sorrow, the name was given by the local hikers. The name Wanyo meaning forgetting sorrow in Chinese explained a little how this dead forest may look. This work of god is a quiet clear swampland with cedars sticking randomly in the swamps, beautiful scenery described only in fairytales.

Yunlin County - Chenglong Wetland
Chenglong Wetland isn’t a natural wetland. It’s actually a man caused wetland, due to the over usage of underground water. The elevation of the ground level sinks gradually, causing floods during typhoons. Now it’s an abandoned paradise for birds, and the first man caused consequences ending up nicely.

Chiayi County - Aogu Wetland
Aogu Wetland was designated as a wildlife reserve, due to the rich habitat of wild life. Over 200 kinds of species rest and breed in this large wetland, including the endangered species, it’s an educational and productive research ground.

Tainan City - Cigu Salt Pan Wetland
One of the hot attractions for bird watching, Cigu Salt Pan Wetland was just a normal wetland until Black-faced Spoonbill decides to spend a lot of time here. The wetland environment seems to be favor by birds, Cigu Salt Pan Wetland enrich with many kinds of water birds and crabs.

Tainan City - Sihcao Wetlands
The rich habitat of the mangrove is the wetland environment with the most variety of species and plants in Taiwan. It is now organized into a tourism canal and boat tour for visitors to examine and experience this well reserved wetland.

Kaohsiung city - Jhouzai Wetland
In order to preserve the wetland environment, Kaohsiung Government established a wetland park to restore the landscape of reservoirs in the Tsoying area. Jhouzai Wetland now contains rich water plants and animals.
