Located in Shanghai, the Shanghai maglev train is a five-section commercial train and is the important project of the shanghai traffic development during the tenth five-year development period of the nation. It is the fastest commercial train in the world with the function of transporting, displaying, tourism and sightseeing. The whole line was 30km long, including the upper departing line and the lower arriving line. Shanghai maglev train travels from the Shanghai Lujiazui financial district to the Shanghai airport in just 7-8 minutes! Put into operation on December 31, 2001, the Shanghai maglev train has an average high speed of 430 km/hr (267mph) and a top speed of 501km/h (311mph)! It is regarded as one of the top successful developments in Shanghai. The maglev train goes through Luoshan Road, Outer Ring Road, Huadong Road, Shang Chuan Road, Pudong Canal, Chuna-nan-feng Highway and Yuandong. The nearby attractions include Lujiazui Area, Pudong International Airport, International Expo Center, and Shanghai Pudong Lingkong Agric Garden.

Riding on the Shanghai Maglev Train is something you must experience during your Shanghai travel. In former time, the train works half a day during work time and a whole day at weekend. In order to embody the advantage of the magnetic suspension train, the department has taken some measures like the passengers are entitled to an 80% discount of the single train ticket by showing the air ticket of that day that is 40 Yuan for an ordinary ticket and 80Yuan for the VIP ticket.
