Fushan Botanical Garden is located at the boundary between Yuanshan Village in Yilan County and Wulai Village in Taipei County. It is one of the three main forest research areas in Fushan. Spreading over an expanse of 40.5 hectares at the plain surrounded by Shiashan (Snow Mountain), Fushan Botanical Garden is the biggest botanical park in Asia.
The vegetation from the middle to lower section of the mountain slope consists mainly of the typical broad leaves tree type such as the camphor. Currently, about 20 hectares is open to public where visitors can roam among 7,000 types of plants. They almost encompass all the available plant species on the island. In addition to the exhibits and guides at the Administration Center, a 20 km long walkway in the woodland provides relaxing and educational walks for visitors. The wooden steps amid lush greenery, the mountain and lake scenery truly blend into one picturesque view and exhibits nature in its utmost splendor.
