Su-ao Port is located in the south of Yilan County, in Lanyang Plain, northeast of Taiwan. Along with a major fishing port of Taiwan, the Nanfang-ao Port, the two large harbors makes up Su-ao as a whole. Su-ao Port can be reached by Taiwan’s North Link Railway that connects Taipei to Hualien. Another one is the Tai No.9 Highway and the Coastal Highway to connect to Taipei and Keelung. As for the port access, there is a Special No.1 Highway of Su-ao Township and Lanyang No.2 Tunnel, which provides a decent gateway for cargoes and shipping companies to operate fast and convenient services.

One of the famous local specialty is the Su-ao Cold Spring, the spring water temperature is around 22C degrees Celsius, it has a pH of 5.5 and it’s both bath-able and drinkable. Research has shown the cold spring from Su-ao contains high concentration of carbonic ion which is the highest of all Taiwan springs. The Su-ao Cold Spring is the only calcium hydroxyl carbonic spring in Taiwan, making Su-ao cold spring one-of-a-kind.

Since the Taipei-Yilan highway is completed, Su-ao Port of Yilan has become more and more popular for a quick get-away from the Taipei busy metropolis lifestyle.
