40 kms west to downtown Sanya, Nanshan Cultural Tourist Zone is located on Nanshan (South Mountain) at an altitude of approximately 500 meters. With an investment of 6 billion RMB dollars, Sanya Nanshan Cultural Tourist Zone opened in 1998. Covering 50 square kilometers, Sanya Nanshan Cultural Tourist Zone is divided into three theme parks: Nanshan Buddhism Cultural Area, National Folklore Area, and South Pacific Ocean Cultural Area.

In Sanya Nanshan Cultural Tourist Zone, there is still one spot worthy to visit: the Golden and Jade Bodisattva. With the certification of Guinness World Records, the Golden and Jade Bodisattva is made of many sorts of gold, diamond, sapphire, ruby, emerald, carol, pearls, and jade. 3.8 meters in stature, the Golden and Jade Bodisattva not only portrays the characteristics of handiworks in Chinese Palaces but has widely considered one of the precious cultural assets in the world.
