Located at the northwestern part of Taiwan, Hsinchu Science Park (HSP) is Taiwan’s first science park established in 1980 to introduce and upgrade the high-tech industries of Taiwan as well as to drive the economic developments of the nation. There are three science parks in different areas, northern, central and southern Taiwan. Each science park possesses its own corn technological advantages. Central Taiwan Science Park focuses on aviation and precision machinery, Southern Taiwan Science Park mainly focuses on optoelectronics, while semiconductors are the core manufacturing of the Hsinchu Science Park (the Northern Taiwan Science Park).

Covering an area about 1,400 hectares, Hsinchu Science Park covers six campuses including Hsinchu, Zhunan, Tongluo, Longtan, Yilan and Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park. The Hsinchu campus has an ideal location with two of Taiwan’s best universities aside, National Tsing Hua University, and National Chiao Tung University which provides HSP a steady flow of quality human resource while the park employees are benefited from the opportunities for further education.

Having superior capabilities of maturing and designing, Hsinchu Science Park is the heart of Taiwan’s high-tech industry which has tremendous impacts on Taiwan’s economy. There are more than 400 primary high-tech ventures of semiconductor, computer, telecommunication, LCD panels, and optoelectronics making Hsinchu Science Park one of the world’s most essential areas for semiconductor manufacturing. The major companies in Hsinchu Science Park include Alpha Networks Inc, D-Link, Lite-On, Logitech, MediaTek, Philips, Realtek, TSMC, ZyXEL and many others.
