As an international airport, Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is located in Taoyuan County, Taiwan. With regular international flights, Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is the busiest airport among the three Taiwan airports. China Airline and EVA Airbase on the airport and operate a major hub here. There are two airports in northern Taiwan, one is Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, providing international flights. The other is Taipei Songshan Airport located within Taipei City, which serves only domestic flights and few international mission flights for the President and Vice President of the Republic of China as well as other international sovereignties' chartered flights. With the contemporary architectural design, the Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport covers an expanse of 1,200 pins and is 40 km from Taipei. Its control tower protrudes at the center of the building, is patterned after Chinese architectural style.

Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is one of Taiwan's ten major construction projects, and it was decided in 1969 to prepare for construction. In 1964, the Civil Aviation Administration first proposed to change its name to "Jieshi Airport", but the Executive Yuan did not agree. On February 15, 1968, the Executive Yuan met 11 days before the opening of the airport, but suddenly it was renamed "Chiang Kai-shek International Airport" (Chiang Kai-shek International Airport) through the proposal of the Ministry of Transportation. On September 6, 2006, the Executive Yuan passed the proposal of the Ministry of Communications to formally rename the Zhongzheng International Airport to "Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport", but the international abbreviation still maintains TPE. The name will go into history.
