Yongle Market or called Yongle Fabric Market located in Dadaocheng, may not be the in the center of commercial area anymore but it is still the significant place for professional designer and the textile industry. The name Yongle was given by the Japanese during the Colonial period, when this was the center of fabric trade with goods such as Japanese novelty print. Yongle became and remains the largest fabric industry in Taipei.

The market is located on the second floor of a market center. With each fabric stalls crunched up against each other, each with hundred types of textile products, it a wonderland of fabrics. Though the fabric industry does not play a big part of Taiwan’s economy, but Yongle Market remains the center of fabric trade in Taiwan.
Several fashion designers started to shine from Yongle Market like Isabelle Wen and Yongle is still home to many tailors and designers.

On the third floor is where tailor shop is located. Where you can have your newly purchased fabrics made into products. The fourth floor is the food court, and it happens to be where the movie “Lucy” was filmed. Yongle Market still preserved the way of business in the past, so the stalls are crowded and may be confusing. But it’s definitely an interesting place to visit and witness the heaviest fabric industry along with other interesting attraction nearby such as the old streets of Dadaocheng and well known matchmaker temple.
