Taipei City ─ Taipei Story House
Taipei Story House-

Situated next to the Taipei Fine Arts Museum, this English Tudor-styled architecture is unique like no other. It is often adopted as the backdrop of many wedding photographs, and various couples pose with greater smiles of happiness on their faces at this romantic site. The Taipei Story House was built in 1914 by a tea merchant named Chao-Jyun Chen, during the Japanese colonial period. It originally served as Mr. Chen's recreational villa, named Yuanshan Villa, for hospitalizing foreign guests. Over the decades, the Villa underwent several transformations, from a private residence to a public art gallery, and finally until 2003 when the Cultural Affairs Department of Taipei City Government renovated it into what we now know as the Taipei Story House, in hopes to revive and preserve Taiwanese historical landmarks. The brand new Story House, as conspicuous as its name, depicts stories of its past memories to current citizens as well as giving them a better understanding of the old Yuanshan Villa. Even better, this European building also provide tea-related services, presenting the visitors with a relaxing morning and afternoon tea, as well as supper atmosphere as they savor the cultural stories of the olden days.
