The most crowded activity before Chinese New Year began, the New Year Shopping. This year, Taipei New Year Shopping is hosting the 20 years anniversary event. Starting from February 4th to 17th, Taipei City Government has linked 11 Taipei New Year Shopping District into a large themed event. Services and guided tours are provided on the spot. Like in Dihua Street, there will be multi-language guided tours, history and local introduction, Chinese New Year cuisine recipe, lantern art and traditional folk performances.
The Taipei Chinese New Year Shopping Event has linked 11 of the Taipei renowned shopping districts including Dihua St., Ninxia, Taipei Railway, Taipei City Mall, Huayin St., Ximending, Ronbing St., Yuanling St., Siping St., Beimen and Chongqing S. Rd. shopping districts. Every shopping street offers unique theme and merchandise, it a great chance to experience the holiday spirit.

The 20 years celebration took hold of the design and decoration of all 11 shopping districts. In the past, the shopping streets manage and design their own theme individually. As for the 20 years celebration, Taipei Government invited 5 artistic design teams from around the world to bring you brand new shopping experience. The Chinese New Year Shopping brochure has included travel information around Taipei, themed tours and over hundred of coupons and vouchers for New Year Shopping, available free at every Taipei Tourist Center, District Office and National Airport.
The transportation has improved significantly now the Songshan MRT Route is up and running. Heading down to Dihua Street has never been easier or any other shopping district. It’s a convenient and the best way to experience Chinese culture through a trip to do some Chinese New Year shopping.
