One of the largest traditional festival is about to begin. Taichung County Matsu International Festival, known as the Matzu Pilgrimage, will begin touring across counties from April 8th to 17th. The Matzu pilgrimage has been recognized by UNESCO as a world intangible heritage. It’s a local folklore celebration worth attending. A series of events has been organized for the celebration including marathon, concerts, puppet performances and photograph competition. The festival invites you a traditional celebration and fun.

Pilgrimage Route
The usual routine proceeds with thousands of followers following Mazu’s statue carried on the sedan chair. During the tour, followers along the way will continually come to worship and prostrate themselves under Mazu’s sedan in order to receive the blessings. It is believed that one would gain fortunes and become prosperous by going underneath the sedan chair. The walking route starts from Taichung and head south crossing Changhua, Yunlin and Chiayi. Drinks and snacks will be provided by the locals along the route including entertainments like outdoor performances.

◎ Transportation：
1、Dajia Matzu Temple：Take train to Dajia Railway Station, walk 400m on Shuntian Rd. to temple.
2、Changhua Nanyao Temple：Take Train to Changhua Railway Station, take taxi to temple (10min).
3、Changhua Tienho Temple：Take train to Changhua Railway Station. Turn right onto Zhongzhen 2nd Rd. then turn left to Yongxin St., then turn left on Yongle St. proceed to Minshen Rd. to temple.
4、Xingang Fengtian Temple：Take train to Mingshon Railway Station Take bus no7002to Xingang Stop, walk 200m to temple.
5、Qingshuei Caoxin Temple：Take train to Qingshuei Railway Station. Take taxi to temple.
