As the temperature drops, the mountains are turning red. It is a great time to travel light for some maple viewing. Situated in the subtropical zone, Taiwan is offering some great location for maples. The higher the altitude, the sooner the maples turns scarlet. With different location around the island, Taiwan holds a great diversity of tree species. During the slightly chilled weather, when the trees turn yellow then red, here are some hot spots we recommend for your maple viewing vacation.
Yangmingshan National Park and Taipei Maple Resort in Tapei
Yangmingshan National Park is a national park closest to the urban district in Taiwan. Expressing a monsoon climate due to the high altitude and elevation and rich in variety of species, Yangmingshan National Park is known for the flower season in February and March as well as the red maples during the fall.
The Taipei Maple Resort, which is very close to the park, is a resort designed in a European garden style planted with maple trees. The best time to visit would be around April to May in the spring.
Shihmen Reservoir, Taoyuan County
Located on the midstream of DaHan River, the reservoir high 133 meters is abundant with beautiful natural sceneries. The Maple Hiking Route would be the most famous of all. With over thousands Green Maples along the path leading down to the ChiLin Park, this is a site never to miss when you visit Shihmen Reservoir.
Yangmingshan National Park and Taipei Maple Resort in Tapei
Yangmingshan National Park is a national park closest to the urban district in Taiwan. The environment around Wuling Farm changes distinctively throughout the four seasons. This is the home of the protected cherry Salmon, pearls, apples, peaches and summer fruits. Very characteristic scenery takes over when the season change where it reaches the top during the spring cherry blossoms and scarlet maples in autumn.
