Taiwan has a diversity of religion. The streets are full of shrines, temples, and churches. Tamsui Presbyterian Church
The Tamsui Presbyterian Church is designated as a historical city monument. The church was originally founded by Dr. Mackay. It was remodeled into the gothic style red brick building in 1932 and installed a clock tower. The church is well preserved, still in use and it’s the largest Presbyterian assembly center in Taiwan.
The Grand Chapel of Aletheia University
Aletheia University is located in Tamsui, New Taipei City. It is a private education instituted founded by the Presbyterian in Taiwan. The Greand Chapel was built in 1997 which holds up to 1500 people and the tallest pipe organ in Taiwan, up to 32 feet high. The exterior is designed in gothic style corresponding with the surrounding historical architects. It’s a popular photo shooting area.
Tatun Flower Farm - Church on Water
Tatun Flower Farm is located in Tamsui, New Taipei. It is a flower farm with flowers in all season. A church over water was designed in the farm, decorated with swings and piano. It is romantic which is very popular among newlyweds to shoot photos here.
Taoyuan Orchard Park Hotel Crystal Chapel
Orchard Park Hotel is near Taoyuan HSR Station and Taoyuan International Airport. The hotel carefully designed a 10 story high modern glass structure. It is a romantic scene for couples to get married under the light.
The Luce Chapel in Tunghai University
The Luce Chapel is probably the signature of Tunghai University in Taichung. It was designed by the firm of noted architect I. M. Pei, who was also responsible for the master plan and the early development of the campus of Tunghai University. It is designed with 2 curves symbolizing hands together praying with the structure concepts of no pillars and walls. It is one of the popular spots for photo and painting.

Puli Paper Dome
Puli Paper Dome was designed by Shigeru Ban, internationally known Japanese architect who is renowned for his paper tube structures and buildings. From the cylindrical columns to the internal benches, Paper Dome is a giant hollow paper tube structure supported by a total of 58 tubes, 5 meters in height. The church symbolizes rebirth and hope, especially when the lights are lit up from the inside.
Tainan Beimen Crystal Church
Before the construction completed, the Beimen Crystal Church in Tainan was already a hot topic. It is the first church designed and built by the officials. Over 7 hectares of space, Beimen Crystal church is one of the hottest photo shooting spots in Southern Taiwan.
Kaohsiung Rose Basilica
It is the first Catholic Church in Taiwan and known for the most decorative church. Kaohsiung Rose Basilica has been designated a third class historical monument. It was built in 1859, later remodeled in 1928 for the lack of space. The new modeled church is a fusion of roman and gothic style. It is dedicated to St. Rose, thus the name Rose Basilica.
Wanjin Basilica
Wanjin Basilica is the oldest church in Taiwan. Located in Wanjin, Pintung, it is the pilgrimage of the worshippers in Taiwan. A mix of Chinese and Spanish architect with a large church bell from Spain, it is designated as a class three National Monument. The ceremony on December 8th attracts believers around the island to participate.
