Yangmingshan Butterfly Festival, from 2015/05/01-2015/07/31, will be held around areas of Datun Anbu, Datun Observatory and Mt. Datun Car Lane of Yangmingshan National Park.
Yangmingshan National Park covers a diversity of landscape, rich habitat which satisfies the natural environment needs for butterflies. The recorded breed of butterfly up until now reaches 180 types. Chestnut tiger butterfly would even flutters up to 10 thousands, one of the greatest features in Yangmingshan National Park. Through May to July, chestnut tiger butterfly whirls the mountains of Yangmingshan, especially in Datung Moutain range. With flowers blooming and butterflies at its peak, it’s a extraordinary scenery where it cannot be found in the cities. The Yangmingshan Forest Department began The Butterfly Festival in 2003 from May to July. The festival promotes environmental awareness and wildlife experiences. It has been a success since, upgrading tourism into educational purpose. This is the best event any casual outdoor lover can ask for, the best time to greet the wind dancer in Yangmingshan.

Every year around May to July is the butterfly season in Yangmingshan National Park. It is when large numbers of butterflies emerge from their cocoons due to the warmer weather and the flowering of many nectar plants. This year, Yangmingshan Butterfly Festival is set to be 2015/05/01-2015/07/31, during these three months time, butterflies might be spotted at areas of Datun Anbu, Datun Observatory and Datun Car Lane. Various activites have been planned during 2015 Yangmingshan Butterfly Festival, including guided ecotours and presentations as well as free shuttle service to Datun Anbu, Datun Observatory and Mt. Datun Car Lane.
